Vicar

St Mark Hamilton Terrace
07.2018 - Current

St Mark's is a church in the liberal catholic tradition. Since arriving here I have:

  • Planned and conducted worship services, written sermons, and led and empowered a congregation to work to enact God's mission.
  • Increased awareness of inclusivity
  • Interacted with local community, building relationships with civic organizations, schools and other churches.
  • Worked with local care homes and older people at home to provide "Anna Chaplaincy' (Chaplains focused on the spiritual needs of older people).
  • Led discipleship programmes for enquirers through to more mature Christians.
  • Worked with congregation members to make St Mark's a prominent community partner, particularly in the areas of mental health, isolation and loneliness, offering a loving and open safe space,
  • Led creative initiatives for worship and prayer, initially during Covid lockdowns and national events.

In January 2023 the church suffered a devastating fire which destroyed the building. I demonstrated my resilience and positivity , responding flexibly as we first worshipped in the vicarage garden, and then in the newly refurbished church hall.

Since then I have worked on the multi-million pound project to rebuild with diocese representatives, insurers and local and national stakeholders. I have gained valuable experience of:

  • Governance structures
  • Community engagement
  • Caring for a wounded community
