I am an enthusiastic person, mother and wife. I have vast experience in a variety of roles involving working as part of the multidisciplinary team and supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and their families. I enjoy working as part of a team and I can contribute a positive attitude and great communication skills. I am always ready to take on leadership, work well under pressure and to tight deadlines. I always use my initiative to stay focused on a target. I am used to dealing with a significant case load. I am a fast learner and I am always ready to accept new challenges. I hope that with my skills and experience working within SEN, I will have a chance to join your team.
As you will see I have primarily worked in SEN Educational settings environment which has allowed me to develop excellent skills in communication and teamwork.
My current position of Assessments and Placements Officer has strengthened my expertise in the consultation process and developed my EHCP knowledge. I have a strong administrative background, working with all aspects of Microsoft Office and Office 365. I have excellent file management where documents can be easily identified in my absence. I always ensure that all conversations, emails and correspondence with parents, carers and professionals are documented in the event of evidence being required. I have an outstanding understanding of GDPR processes and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and sensitive data is maintained.
I am responsible for ensuring that all the outcomes from my screening process are input correctly onto the internal database. This ensures that all data can be captured and reported to other teams upon request. I have been proactive in identifying issues with this newly introduced database and have made suggestions and changes to ensure that meaningful and relevant data is recorded effectively.
I was instantly drawn to the advertised role due to the focus of Young People with an EHCP. I have also been looking for a role which would offer more opportunities to assist Young People with SEN during their education, which is a further reason for my interest. I always try to capture young people's views while producing rationales to ensure that their voice is heard.
As part of the Assessment and Placement Team it is important to liaise confidently with my colleagues and regularly feed back on the consultation process, discussing any improvements or suggestions that can be made to support the role. This includes changes or suggestions to EHCP paperwork screening and providing reports.
I feel I have a very good knowledge of EHCP paperwork and the processes involved and would like to increase my knowledge further learning from experienced professionals already working directly in the SEND team. This would enable me to support young people, parents and carers from the initial stage, including supporting in their transitions to new provisions and being a part of a success story.
I am fluent in English and Polish. Being bilingual enables me to support Polish parents and carers during the EHCP process. For example, I have acted as a translator in college assessments and EHCP Review Meetings. I have also helped to translate formal documents to ensure parents and carers fully understand the different pieces of paperwork.
I am always happy to help and I have significant experience supporting parents and carers in all aspects of the EHCP process.
I would like the opportunity to join a new team that can offer a career progression and an opportunity for individuals to be acknowledged for their contribution and hard work. I am also looking to gain more support from a company that supports flexible/hybrid working to enable a good work/life balance.
I have often received positive feedback from my colleagues that I work very efficiently and I am always able to find a time to help them when needed. I strongly believe that working as part of a team is being able to support each other with workloads and be able to offer assistance when needed.
I would always welcome additional training and knowledge to support me in my role. I have participated in delivering training to new EHCP Review Officers and curriculum staff to provide them with further knowledge surrounding the expectation and importance of an EHCP.
I am now looking to apply the skills I have learnt throughout my career as an Assessments and Placements Officer into a more challenging role within an organisation that has a clear social purpose and impact.
As part of my daily duties I screen EHCP, Annual Review, School, Therapy and Nursing Reports to produce Initial Rationale Reports to include knowledge and understanding of the curriculum, therapy and nursing support needs. This is the start of the consultation process to be considered for a placement in the College.
I work closely with Assessments and Placements Coordinator and I am able to proactively lead on the organisation of centre assessments and attend face-to-face assessments, at the student’s current placement setting/OHC centres, or within the home environment for NEET students. Here I will obtain accurate information to support the young person in a detailed report.
I support those carrying out assessments to interpret EHCPs or other statutory documentation to ensure that outcomes are considered during the assessment process, and quality assure the content of written reports. I ensure appropriate IAG is provided to all prospective and attending students as raised through the assessment and admission enquiry process. I comply with the SEN Code of Practice and the timescales within it. I take part in preparation of accurate and detailed reports and lead on their presentation at panel meetings.
I work closely with parents, carers, local authorities and other professionals on a daily basis. I also assist Polish speaking parents and help with translating during the assessment process, open day events, Annual Reviews, parent's meetings and general enquiries. I ensure that appropriate emails are sent in a timely manner to support the smooth running of the consultation process within statuary deadlines.
I have very good computer skills including Microsoft Office, One Drive, Google Forms and using the internal College database.
I track my own work load and delegate to other teams. I am maintaining an accurate and up to date spreadsheet showing my 300+ screened cases per year.
I am used to managing change and conflicting workloads/deadlines on a frequent basis to ensure statutory obligations are met.
I am responsible to ensure accuracy and attention to detail is provided when identifying information from EHCP, Annual Review of EHCP, school reports, therapy and nursing reports to make sure a clear, formal rationale is produced. I make sure that all reports are accurate. I work as part of multidisciplinary team to ensure that students are placed on appropriate study programmes and at the appropriate academic levels, with adequate level of staff support and equipment.
I record all Information through internal student systems to produce statistical information relating to sustained destination data after leaving the College. I take part in developing and maintaining systems for quality monitoring and updating of student data supporting the development and improvement of use of the College Student Information System.
I work both as part of a team or independently, prioritising my own work and meeting deadlines. I deal with confidential information on a daily basis and always maintain information in a sensitive and confidential manner.
I produce detailed records of all telephone conversations with parents /carers. I am always happy to participate in appropriate staff development opportunities to keep up-date or develop new skills. I also assist with the admissions process including, but not limited to, sending out admission packs to new families of prospective pupils, and arranging college centre visits. I have skills and knowledge to step in when my colleagues are absent and work as part of the Assessments and Placement Team to support with the admissions process, college bursaries and any parent/carer queries.
I am a proactive member of the team to support with ‘in house’ paperwork changes, regularly reviewing screening paperwork to ensure it is up to date to make the consultation process as efficient as possible.
