I am a methodical, tenacious and enthusiastic individual with a strong drive for achievement through business development. I have over twenty years' experience of energy markets, energy management, carbon compliance and carbon reduction. I have an in-depth understanding of the Energy Markets and sound knowledge of utility contracts and invoicing. I have strong teamwork and leadership skills with the ability to liaise with any level (Caretaker, Chief Officers, and Colleagues).
Initially I was recruited by Mace a the Energy Hub Manager. I was promoted to Senior Energy Hub Manager in 2021.
I am responsible for the validation, procurement and management of all energy and water procured by Mace for temporary energy consumption on construction sites and enabling permanent connections as well as Mace UK office locations.
Prior to arranging for the connection the I calculate load application to ensure the correct levels of supply are procured, and will then liaise with the utilities team to get temporary and permanent new site connections installed.
I monitor each site to ensure that they implemented the company policies for energy reduction and net zero. I work closely with our sustainability team to implement innovative methods to reduce the energy consumption on the projects and therefore lower the company’s carbon footprint.
I have led a project with a strategic client to evaluate their utility management processes and provide recommendations for improvement. The recommendations were outsourcing to an energy bureau and employ a utility subject matter expert which is now being implemented by the client.
I have extensive experience of energy compliance. In my previous employment, I have been responsible for CRC and DEC data, delivery and evidence packs and I successfully delivered ESOS for King's and Mace. I am responsilbe for SECR and ESOS delivery in Mace.
I line manage a two energy hub assistants.
King's College London had an ambitious target to save carbon emissions by 43% from a 2005/06 baseline by 2019/20 and carbon free by 2025. King's aim is to provide world class services for a world class university and intends to improve the sustainability of its estate. King's has a large complex estate, comprising of new builds, listed buildings, embedded space and laboratorie.
During my tenure at King's I project managed installation of 85kWp solar PV system on a Residence building. Managed the installation and population of the energy database I was the Systemslink database manager - Collect, manage, monitor and target all energy and water data. I was repsonsible for Energy compliance and delivery of ESOS, DEC's and CRC.
I reviewed and analysed data to identify abnormal consumption trends. I performed audits and investigated energy and water anomalies and identified savings initiatives. Assisted in developing policies and strategies relating to energy/water conservation.
Managed bill validation and procurement TPI. Project managed AMR Metering installation for both fiscal and sub-meters review metering gaps. Promoted the Sustainability Champion promoting sustainability throughout King's and implemented an Energy Champion's volunteer role within the Maintenance department. I maintain Salix projects register. I was one of the trainers in King's customer relationship programme "Fit for King's".
ISO 50001/BS EN 16001
While employed at the City of London Corporation I was responsible for collating and coordinating the ISO 50001 Energy Management System I completed the BSI training - Implementing an Energy Management System in June 2013 and began preparing and collating the necessary documentation The City was also a test pilot for BSI 16001 in which I assisted the Energy Manager
Monitoring and Targeting
The City has a Carbon Descent Plan which is reduce emissions by 15% by 2015 from 2008-09 baseline, I was responsible for monitoring the consumption and reporting to Chief Officers To facilitate the reporting I was responsible for a major project that would (using a shared platform) allow City Corporation staff to view the City’s energy performance against target This is delivered in a dashboard populated via the energy management software and allows all staff to view the energy performance of the Corporation with the ability to drill down into each department I am responsible for the management of the monitoring and targeting software, this includes managing data entry, upgrades and training
Compliance with Standards and Legislation (CRC, CCA, DEC, Carbon Trust Standard)
I ensure that the City is compliant with all applicable energy legislation I am responsible for collation of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) data and reporting I also prepare departmental CRC budgets and advise the finance department on the procurement of CRC allowances I am responsible for reporting data to comply with the Climate Change Agreement and advise on the budget and procure the allowances I collate the energy data for the Display Energy Certificates and ensure timely delivery of the certificates I achieved Carbon Trust Standard for the City and successfully maintained it two years later
Procurement
I manage the City’s £12m energy procurement I ensure that contracts are in place for the 1200 gas and electricity meters I manage the Energy Bureau Service provider I advise the Finance Department on energy budgets and accruals I advise senior management on energy procurement strategy and the acceptance of the utility contracts
Engagement and Education
The City has a focus both internal and external to reduce carbon emissions which is a key indicator in our Corporate Plan I have organised energy awareness events Talking to City businesses, residents and workers presenting them with information eg posters, hand-outs, questionnaires to help them reduce their emissions
