Au Pair

The Cottrells
Oxford, Oxfordshire
04.2021 - 04.2022

Worked 12 hour days, 4 days a week, looking after two lovely toddlers ages 1 and 3 years old. Would drop and pick up the 3 year old at nursery while spending the whole day with the 1 year old (my best friend!) some of my duties, but not all, included:

  • Took charge of the morning routines such as waking them up in the mornings, getting them dressed, helped brush their teeth and wash their face, prepared a healthy breakfast for them and assisted them while eating, and getting the 3 year old packed and ready for nursery.
  • Dropping the 3 year old off at school by car.
  • Planned out the mornings activities for the 1 year old, which would range from toddler/baby play groups, soft play, walks in parks and picnics, arts and crafts, story time at the library, play dates with other nannies with children close in age and in and out door play.
  • Prepared healthy lunches and snacks (while sticking to their meal and snack timings to maintain routine)
  • Put the youngest down for his scheduled nap.
  • Picked up the 3 year old from school, driving safely and always arriving on time.
  • When home after school, I would settle kids down for quiet time by activities such as drawing and jigsaw puzzles while I prepared dinner.
  • Prepared dinner and assisted them while eating.
  • Assisted children with bedtime routines, adhering to set timeframes to maintain routine and consistency. This included bathing them, brushing their teeth, getting them dressed in pyjamas and story time before bed.

I loved working for this family, and absolutely adored the children, and had a lovely bond with them. I found the job very awarding, overcoming milestones such as helping the 1 year old learn how to walk and helped him with his speech development.
