During my time at the Saints foundation i received a breakthrough star award alongside an employable award. I was also 3rd in the country to win this and I travelled to London for my award. When I was at the Saints Foundation another one of my awards was a Runner Up in physical activity.
At the end of my learning at Northampton College I received a certificate for an award of employability, this was for understanding mindset, understanding personal finance, job application skills and writing a CV.
I volunteered at The Bridge on Gold Street. During this time I motivated service users to engage in activities such as working out, playing ping pong and football.
I talked and listened to the service users and helped with any of their concerns.
I did this role in my free time as I have a passion for helping people since I started secondary school.
I volunteered here for 3/4 months until I found my job at Mentaur.
After my time at The Saints Foundation Shirley Lynch wrote me a reference.
'To whom it may concern
I am pleased to provide this reference for Kane Spence, who attended the Northampton Saints Foundation, where he successfully completed an employability programme alongside his functional skills qualifications in Maths and English.
During his time with us, Kane consistently demonstrated outstanding qualities as a mentor and role model. He was kind, considerate and caring- showing genuine compassion and empathy towards his peers. His positive attitude and willingness to support others made a lasting impact on both staff and fellow students.
Kanes journey with rugby and his personal development through our programme was so inspiring that we nominated him for a Physical Activity Award through the premiership Rugby HITZ programme. We felt his achievements and growth deserved to be celebrated, and we were proud to recognise his commitment and progress.
Kane is a credit to himself and any future team or organisation he becomes part of.'
