During my teacher training, I take increasing responsibility for planning and delivering whole-class lessons across the primary curriculum. I plan sequences of lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, using assessment to inform next steps and adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils. I lead whole-class teaching and support guided group work while developing strong behaviour management and classroom routines with high expectations. Through mentor feedback, observations and professional reflection, I continue to refine my practice using evidence-informed approaches such as explicit instruction, modelling and scaffolding to support pupil progress.

Personal Statement

I am deeply committed to becoming a teacher because I believe in the profound impact that education can have on shaping individuals and empowering them to reach their full potential. My desire to work in education stems from my passion for supporting all learners, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I am eager to create a classroom environment where every student, regardless of their challenges, feels valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.

I have developed strong skills in lesson planning, specifically tailored to meet the needs of students with SEND. I am experienced in adapting materials and activities to ensure that they are accessible and engaging for all learners. This includes the creation of specialised teaching resources, such as visual aids, differentiated tasks, and assistive technology, which help to support various learning styles and abilities.

Clear communication is at the core of my teaching philosophy. I strive to communicate effectively with students, making complex concepts understandable and ensuring that instructions are clear and concise. Additionally, I prioritise open communication with parents and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to each student’s learning journey.

In my approach to behaviour management, I focus on positive reinforcement and creating a structured environment that promotes self-regulation and respect. I use consistent strategies to help students understand expectations, manage their behaviour, and build their confidence. I am skilled in identifying and addressing individual needs, ensuring that every student is supported in their personal and academic growth.
