High Voltage Site Engineer

• Delivered planned and corrective maintenance on HV transformers, switchgear, and associated plant, producing detailed technical reports, fault analysis, and remedial action recommendations to maintain network reliability and compliance.
• Conducted specialist electrical testing and commissioning activities including earthing matrix/grid resistance testing, insulation resistance (Megger), transformer ratio testing (TTR), inductance measurements, thermagraphic surveys, partial discharge testing, and oil sampling/analysis to assess asset condition and system integrity.
• Competent in the safe operation and switching of HV/LV switchgear, performing isolations, energisation, and switching schedules in accordance with authorised procedures and safety rules.
• Assisted in the creation and updating of technical documentation and electrical schematics using AutoCAD, including power distribution diagrams, single-line diagrams, earthing layouts, and protection/beneficiary schematics to support installation, testing, and design validation.
• Supported the installation, commissioning, replacement, and decommissioning of transformers and substation equipment, ensuring conformance with design drawings and earthing requirements.
• Developed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and site-specific procedures to ensure safe execution of HV works and regulatory compliance.
• Planned and coordinated tools, test instruments, and materials for each project, ensuring correct specification of equipment for earthing and commissioning activities.
• Acted as the primary technical interface between clients, site teams, and engineers, clearly communicating design intent, test results, and system performance.
• Maintained company vehicles and specialist test equipment to ensure reliability and readiness for nationwide deployment (Avg. 1,500 miles per week).

• This placement dealt with the "Overlay coatings" section, which is an application of a thermal barrier coating to engine components, through various methods and complex pressurised systems - to customers like Rolls-Royce, Siemens and other proven high quality aerospace establishments.
• I was promoted from operator 6 months after establishing myself at the business to operator programmer - a year later I applied for the cell leader position of which I got and held throughout completing my level 4 electrical engineering qualification to present.
• Process Knowledge:
• APS, LVPS, Vibro Polish, Grit-Blasting, Shot Peening, LPPS, Flame spray (LVPS), PVD, Bench work (Masking/Taping).
• Experience with digital and analogue multicoat systems.
• Adverse in vacuum theory & technology.
• NPI (new product introduction) - I successfully qualified over 15 pieces of NPI by either creating entirely new program(s), or tweaking existing ones.
• Sole leader managing 16 members of staff - Timekeeping, task distribution and training over two shifts for over 4+ Years
• To effectively communicate and enforce new working procedures.
• Precise engineering in the form of fabrication of unique tools to each working situation.
• Stock management & sourcing - I frequently worked with suppliers to find sufficient tooling and set up a CAN-BAN system to maintain.
• To review the section's performance as a whole, present and discuss to management and stakeholders about the future improvements going forward at a monthly meeting.
• To adhere to all official aviation authoritative bodies, ensuring all relevant traceability of each worked part was completed.

• Supervised a floor of 120 stowers/pickers, monitoring statistics and performance whilst understanding regular problematic occurrences and finding creative solutions.
• Solutions could range from showing a unique approaches for individual staff members regarding performance/progression or just generic production flow issues.

• Absorbed the depth of precision detailing, and lent improvement to my use with hand tools.
