  • The role was designed to support NHS mental health services which were struggling after Covid, with increased numbers of people suffering isolation depression and anxiety. My job is to use an NHS supplied phone, to ring between 3-5 people per week for 1 hour, for 6months. To use active listening skills and lived experience to support people who are experiencing isolation and loneliness, due to a variety of reasons, e.g. Mental health, physical health, environmental/circumstantial difficulties, neurodivergence, learning disability, age, etc.

The management encouraged me to apply for an assistant manager role, I was successful - duties included:
  • Ensuring the shop was clean and well-organised, rotating stock and stocking shelves, sorting and organising donations, steaming clothes and serving customers
  • Opening and closing/locking up the store (as key-holder).
  • Cashing up and banking, which involved paperwork/record keeping
  • Supporting volunteers, making sure they felt valued, and were suited to their designated tasks. Particularly considering extra needs such as Autism, learning difficulties and age.
  • Provided support to manager during audits, ensuring accurate reports.
  • Ensured health and safety compliance, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff members.

EARLIER EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

In1998 and 2000 I had two children and 2002 -2004 We went through the Family-Court system the outcome of which is now understood as Coersive- Control. Following this experience I had CPTSD and my primary concern was providing a safe and loving home for my children as a single parent. My career took a back seat due to my priority and capacity.
