Within my teaching and leadership roles and more recently SENCO I have gained valuable experience of working with learners and their families to ensure they successfully access all aspects of their education, often overcoming barriers to their learning. This experience has shaped and developed my belief and interest in the importance of individualised learning packages.
Creating opportunities to offer and provide all learners with a curriculum where they can enjoy learning successes and gain confidence in their abilities; building learner confidence is a key to engaging interest and sustaining concentration. To offer important opportunities for self-expression, confidence, and enjoyment.
On a personal level my 30 years of experience within Secondary mainstream settings and the ASD Specialist provision of the have influenced and shaped my love of working with young people. The sense of satisfaction when a learner understands a taught concept or idea, grows and blossoms into an independent young adult or learns to read new vocabulary continues to drive my commitment. Throughout my teaching experiences I continue to learn and develop, always looking for solutions to the next problem. My various roles and leadership practice continue to inform my practice and the importance of inclusivity.
