Julian Mittra

I founded 'In & Beyond Bath' in 2016, with a vision of sharing the authentic England that I love, and had missed, whilst teaching and setting up schools overseas in Zambia.

As a passionate traveller myself, I realized that it is the big attractions that draw me to a destination, but that it's the small stuff, the unanticipated experiences, the relationships, and the things that I couldn't have anticipated or asked for that make up the meaningful experiences that I treasure.

I therefore set out to create a transformative tour company in the region that I call home (Bath), enabling visitors to truly connect to with our culture, landscapes, history, cuisine and people in a truly meaningful manner. Eschewing the typical touring approaches based on sight-seeing, generic, packed itineraries focused on popular sights our approach combines the best and breadth of our region, sharing the highlights but also the hidden gems we know will delight our guests and a goal of providing meaning, context, connection and service.

Our business is similarly forward-thinking. We are values driven, with a 'People-first' approach, and a commitment to changing the model for the better.

I've grown the business from me, to a team of 15 currently, with the goal of expanding locations in the near future.

I helped set up, design, and establish a new International School in Solwezi, Zambia, working as part of the Leadership team. My contributions far exceeded my job brief, as I took it upon myself to resolve problems that others were not dealing with, including negotiating and arranging chartered flights for students, and designing new boarding houses.
