Diocesan Safeguarding Officer

As Head of Safeguarding I am responsible for the delivery of safeguarding services across the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham for the Church of England. I advise the Bishop and senior staff on all safeguarding matters and manage the safeguarding team (consisting of 6 members) providing training and undertaking risk assessments and managing those who pos a risk to others within the church, thorough professional investigations into reported incidents, leading to accurate record-keeping, and joint working with statutory agencies.

As one of the directors, I ensure that safeguarding is embedded across all departments working closely with other directors to fulfil the diocesan mission.

As part of the East Midlands Region, I work collaboratively with Regional Safeguarding Lead and the other five Diocesan Safeguarding Officers to ensure best practice is shared and each diocese is supported to ensure high quality services are provided at all times.

I work with the National Safeguarding Team on a variety of projects including design and delivery of the National Senior Leaders Safeguarding Training.
