The girls were 8 months and 5 years old when I started this position.
My duties were to get the oldest ready in the morning and take her to school. During the school hours I would take the youngest to baby and toddler groups for her to socialize with other children her age and provide different activities to help promote learning and developing her physical skills.
We would also go on daily walks and visit libraries and playgrounds.
In the afternoon after picking up the oldest from school, I would help with homework. Cook dinner and try to encourage the girls to try new foods, and bath them so they where ready for bed when their parents arrived home.
During the school holidays we would visit libraries and playgrounds, I would also provide a range of different activities for them, inside and outside the home. This included arts and crafts, sensory and messy play. As the children got older this included a lot more imaginative play and card games. When the youngest started school I would do washing, ironing and general tiding up during those school hours.
Unfortunately I had to give up this position to become a full time career to my parents.
I started this position when he was 6 months old. Helped to establish his nap routine, encouraged him to try and take milk form a bottle/cup as he was breast fed( on mums request). I also helped to ween him by cooking different nutritional meals.
The girls were 10 months and 3 years old when I started looking after them.
During this time I would prepare all their meals and follow their routine including bathing and nap times.
We went to toddler groups so they could interact with other children, parks, libraries and had days out. I also provided a range of different activities i.e. water play, cloud dough etc. to encourage their development and interests.
I was the under 2's supervisor with 8 staff under me and a room capacity for 21 children.
My responsibilities along side being a key worker to my key children was to organize the daily running of the room. Making sure that all staff had what they need to complete their duties, working along side the EYFS.
As a key worker to the children I looked after, I provided a range of activities to help them develop their physical and cognitive skills.
This included regularly doing observation on them to work out what their next steps would be. Being a key worker also meant that I would work closely with parents to keep to the child's routine as much as possible and provide a safe and comfortable place for them to learn and grow.
I was in charge of the baby room. We had 9 under ones, with three staff members.
My role entailed the day to day running of the room, making sure the other members of my room had what they needed to do the job. I had to organize setting sessions for new starters, provide the kitchen with daily meal numbers making sure allergies and dietary restriction were ad healed too. Proved daily activities to help with the babies growth and development.
In November 2024 I had to give up work to become a full time career to my parents. I actually started having to care for my dad during the pandemic. This required doing personal care, arranging and taking to GP and hospital appointments, manage medications and their finances along side the normal running of day to day life.
I have had to become adaptable and think out side the box when problems have occurred.
With my father passing away and my mum (who has Alzheimer's )moving into a care home , I am now looking forward to going back to work.
