Passionate Teacher with more than 25 years of experience developing and implementing diverse curriculums covering wide range of subjects. Highly skilled at motivating students through positive encouragement and reinforcement of concepts via interactive classroom instruction and observation. Successful in helping students develop strong literacy, numeracy, social and learning skills.
I have worked in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham for 26 years. I have been leading literacy, behaviour and have been a middle leader and SLT member for the last 20 years. I was an assistant head for 4 years at my last school.
During my long career I have taught from EYFS to year 4 and have spent the majority of my last years teaching in year 3 & 4 which I have really enjoyed.
I have had a range of roles during my time and have implemented many new strategies, ranging from phonics, reading, writing and behaviour where I have led workshops and shared experiences and roles with fellow colleagues in the borough.
I have been part of a working party for literacy and helped develop the borough's reading and writing Rubrix which was used to help level pupil's attainment.
I have a strong approach to behaviour management and have always been praised by both parents and colleagues for my positive, consistent management of pupils behaviour throughout my career. I have used and implemented many different strategies which have been praised by OFSTED.
I have worked well with SENCOs to help implement interventions and specific catch up programmes and these have also proved successful.
I have attended many professional courses over the years and believe that it is our responsibility as teaching professionals to keep abreast of the latest developments and initiatives.
Whilst I have worked with many teaching schemes over the years I have also helped develop the curriculum and been part of helping set up a new primary school phase in a whole through school.
I adapt my teaching to allow each pupil to achieve their best and endeavour to ensure that they are able to work independently, maintaining confidence in themselves.
I know that all pupils are individuals and encourage all aspects of academic, physical and social skills to help them achieve their very highest potential.
have very high expectations of both behaviour and learning and work hardest to help them achieve.
I have always had a very good relationship with colleagues and parents and all pupils and understand that many pupils need specific support to help reach their potential.
I have worked with my own and overseen other year groups with their planning and understand national requirements well.
I have a range of teaching styles and know that children's engagement, independence and understanding rely on their full commitment, enjoyment and finally rewards for hard work.
I have analysed data as part of my STL roles and have helped implement and support areas which needed further work within the school.
I analyse assessments, both summative and formative and endeavour to close any gaps I see in their learning.
I know that teaching is an enormous responsibility and fully commit to the role each day.
