With my certifications in phlebotomy and experience running a phlebotomy clinic with 50 patients weekly, I believe I am well equipped individual for a job as a phlebotomist working for your team.
With this experience, I have tailored my skills in blood taking, patient communication, health and safety protocol and working under timed pressure.
Furthermore, my background as a medical student and my experience working in a pharmacy and as a vaccinator have added to my skills in the healthcare field especially in communication with patients aswell as working well in a team. I believe I am strong and efficient at maintaining high standards of care and precision.
During my phlebotomy internship at a GP clinic, I was soley responsible for running the phlebotomy clinic, taking bloods for around 50 patients a week. I gained hands-on experience in venipuncture, patient interaction, and maintaining strict hygiene and safety protocols. I developed the ability to use medical and patient records software like Emis Health aswell as strong communication skills to reassure patients, ensured accurate labeling and handling of samples, and learned to manage time effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. This experience enhanced my understanding of patient care, teamwork, and the importance of precision in medical procedures.
Working as a GCSE science and maths tutor has strengthened my ability to simplify complex concepts and tailor explanations to suit individual learning styles. I have developed strong communication, time management, and organizational skills while fostering students’ confidence and helping them achieve their academic goals
Throughout my tenure in the pharmacy field, I have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to patient well-being and safety. My responsibilities have included accurately dispensing medications, conducting inventory and stock management, selling perfumes and gift sets and providing essential patient education on medication usage and potential side effects. These duties have honed my ability to communicate complex medical information in a clear and understandable manner. Moreover, my experience has instilled in me the ability to provide support and reassurance to patients in the pharmacy as well as to provide clear and concise guidance on what they should proceed to do next. Also being a 5th year medical student, Ive been able to combine what Ive studied in my clinical years at medical school with what Ive learnt in the pharmacy to give well informed direction to patients in need and this has over time, helped me enhance my problem solving skills under pressure.
I was tasked with administering vaccines to individuals in accordance with clinical protocols and guidelines. I learnt to effectively communicate with vaccine recipients, addressing any concerns and providing information on post-vaccination care
I was entrusted with collecting medications from Beckenham Pharmacy, contacting patients to make sure they were able to receive a delivery from the pharmacy that same day, planning an efficient route
and delivering the medications by car in a responsible manner. It taught be how to manage and execute operations accurately and efficiently.
I volunteered at Accident and Emergency and during my time in the role, I would guide patients to correct areas, meet and greet patients and provide informational support regarding the hospital.
