I am a student teacher who is passionate and enthusiastic about my work. I'm responsible for mentoring a group of six primary school-aged children, providing support in one-hour sessions. My role involves bridging their knowledge gaps with thorough explanations and continuous support. I strive to boost the confidence of children who might struggle with low self-esteem or a disinterest in learning, offering constant encouragement and praise. My assistance extends to the primary school curriculum, focusing on English and Maths and preparing students for the 11+ exams through verbal and non-verbal reasoning exercises. My responsibilities included handling incoming calls for staff, answering questions, directing calls, and documenting messages. I efficiently sorted and distributed incoming mail to the correct recipients throughout busy office environments and created monthly reports. Additionally, I coordinated reference and background checks to ensure compliance with right-to-work guidelines, crafted contracts for new staff members, and organised induction social events for new graduates joining the company. I also registered staff information on the database to maintain accurate records, briefed candidates about responsibilities, salary, and job benefits, and informed candidates about interview results, making job offers to successful interviewees.
For over three years, I worked in various roles that involved interacting with customers. I worked as a Retail Assistant at Thompson's Plant and Garden Centre and Next in London and Canterbury. I was also a bar staff member for Thames Luxury Charters and a Student Ambassador at Canterbury Christ Church University.
As a Retail Assistant, I made sure that the store ran smoothly by following company procedures and guidelines. This involved tagging products with price tags and stickers and operating cash registers accurately for cash and card transactions. I assisted customers in finding specific items, recommended products based on their needs, and promoted the customer loyalty scheme at checkout. I also kept the sales floor clean and trained new team members.
As a bar staff member, I was responsible for maintaining stock levels, cleaning and restocking the bar, and greeting and serving customers. I made sure payments were processed promptly to keep wait times short.
