I spent a lot of my working life chasing the dream of being a professional Call of Duty player. I would come home from work and put another 6-8 hours into practice, strategy with my team, VOD review and analysing. This enabled me to travel the world and compete on stages under the highest amounts of pressure. How does this translate into the working world? I am loyal to my team. I am immensely driven, willing to commit and sacrifice all my time to achieve success. I strive in high pressure environments.
A facilities operator is a broad term for an everything man. I move furniture all over campus, drive mini buses, paint, window clean, facilitate and move staging/lighting equipment. Bryanston is 400 acres, with over 40 buildings. I am always involved in setting up for events like Christmas fairs, or during the summer when facilities are rented out to companies like Dorset Opera.
I would attend 2/3 customer appointments per day. This would involve measuring rooms, doing heat loss calculations and drawing plans for installation to the customers preference. I would then give the customer a speech about our product, explaining benefits and a comparison to their existing system. I would occasionally sell on the day, but mostly it would involve back and forth communication for months after an appointment. This meant managing a vast customer database. My area covered the whole of the south coast, from Penzance to Brighton, all the way up to Bristol.
Carried out day-day-day cooking, packaging and cleaning duties accurately and efficiently. Listened to customer needs and desires to identify and recommend optimal products. Opened, shelved and merchandised new products in visually appealing and organised displays for optimal sales promotions.
