My first year as an educator at Trumpington Community College, Cambridge, has entrenched my passion and commitment to the teaching profession. My favourite aspect of the job by far was in the classroom, I genuinely enjoyed spending time with young people, finding out at what levels they could access often complex ideas, and then creating the best environment for these ideas to be communicated in an engaging and challenging environment. This was a challenge I relished, and found a great sense of purpose in developing professional relationships with the students and their work. I was described at Trumpington as positive, energetic, and good humoured. I often enjoyed working with children who had complex needs or challenging behavioural attributes, as this is something I have experience at great length as my parents worked as foster carers throughout my childhood. Developing a person-centred approach around a specific student, and witnessing the student experience success through this approach, is of the highest value to myself as an educator.
I have just returned from four months travelling, and am looking to start work as an English teacher, or supply teacher, as soon as possible.
