Graduate civil engineer with over a year's experience within a civil and structural engineering consultancy. I have worked through a variety of projects and gained invaluable practical skills whilst carrying out site surveys. This has progressed my creativity and problem-solving skills by finding smart and feasible solutions to problems faced within each project. I am a highly self-motivated and driven individual who is eager to continue developing and progressing my skills and knowledge within the engineering industry.
Since beginning at Kingmoor Consulting, I have developed myself as an engineer and an individual by gaining knowledge and experience of the industry. I have worked on a broad range of projects varying from full drainage designs, to structural design work and also geotechnical engineering services. By working on different topics and carrying out detailed site surveys, it has allowed me to develop a range of skills within each specialised subject. Throughout, I have liaised and worked with colleagues and clients on projects which has allowed me to develop excellent communication skills and consult others on each topic of discussion.
Work Experience/Placement. – I spent a week with Hardie's who are a Civil Engineering company in Dumfries. This was not a mandatory placement however, I opted to spend a week gaining valuable knowledge and experience by visiting a variety of sites and speaking with site engineers. I visited four different projects across Dumfries and Galloway and Penrith. This allowed me to experience and view new steel framed structures and learn the practical aspects of how steel reinforcement and in-situ concrete is laid.
Throughout my time working at Tesco it provided me with experience dealing with customers and members of the public which developed key communication skills. Working as a team was essential in this role as it required co-ordination to ensure all Dot com orders were picked, packed and ready for all the customers. Time management was also key in allowing me to perform well in my role, ensuring all store deliveries were offloaded and stored in sufficient time
