I decided to leave Premier Electrics for a number of reasons. One of the main factors was my desire to find work that allowed me to be based closer to home, as I had been working away for the past year. In addition, I wanted to gain experience in domestic electrical work rather than focusing solely on industrial projects. As I aim to carry out a wide range of electrical work in the future, gaining experience across different areas of the trade is very important to me. I have successfully completed the majority of my second-year examinations, with four remaining, and I am now seeking an opportunity to complete my apprenticeship with a new company.
I worked in the Civil Service as a telephone assistant, handling calls from individuals seeking support with benefits such as PIP, COC advances, and prison leaver services. I really enjoyed this role, as it gave me the opportunity to reflect on my future after completing my A-levels and helped me realise that I wanted to pursue a career as an electrician.
Another aspect I appreciated about the role was the independence it provided. It enabled me to move into my own apartment and live on my own, which was an important personal milestone for me.
