I'm Friendly and knowledgeable Crew Trainer offering 2 years of experience in food handling and customer service. Great with other members of staff - making sure that they know I'm a friendly face before a member of authority. I feel like this helps build trust and cooperation with the people I work with, rather than 'brute forcing' my way into bossing them around, as anyone is more likely to listen and follow the instructions of someone they actually like. This has proven to be effective during peak times of the shifts, having staff work better as a team when they feel like they are actively being listened to and appreciated
As a Crew Trainer, I am responsible for showing new employees how to work on specific stations i.e. Dealing with in-house orders or preparing and making food. To be an effective Crew Trainer you need patience, co-ordination, and communication among many other similar skills. It's a rewarding job in the aspect that you get to see how your training influences your trainees as they improve on their skills as you teach them.
I am also responsible for supervising the kitchen at times when managers are busy elsewhere, and putting myself on stations that need a hand when it gets busy.
Being a Crew Trainer means that I am able to give a hand around anywhere in the store and help maintain the fast-food flow, whilst managing other staff members as I work.
Working as a kitchen porter and order taker had me managing both; substituting dirty dishware and equipment with clean ones, and washing the dirty equipment, - and answering the phone whenever it rang, managing the online till for collections or deliveries and letting my boss know about any specific allergen requirements or customisations.
Since this business cooked and fried their food fresh to every order, timekeeping, speed and communication with other staff was imperative in order to keep the heavy nights running smoothly and quickly.
I would also aid in any food prep like serving up portions of beans, gravy etc. and refilling the pizza station's toppings whenever they were running low.
Through this job I learned customer service skills, how to operate digital order-taking tills, and developed cleanliness and hygiene practises.
