Summary

Enthusiastic Wastewater production operator with nearly 4 years experience, with an eagerness to learn all the time and assist others. As an individual I have been tasked with various roles in my time at Northumbrian Water on site, which have been successful for me and my personal development. As I look to ensure the sanitary compliant consents of the sites I work on and help push the business towards its goals and visions of achieving national leader in all aspects, I also aim to better myself, as a person and as an operator, building on the skills I have gained already.

Work history

Production Operator

NWL Bran Sands
2022.09 - 2026.04
  • ETW - Carried out site critical duties, such as task libraries and effectively monitoring the process using technology such as SCADA, including a wide range of samples on Bran Sands, and other sites such as Lianhetech and ConnicoPhillips. Cleaning and testing instrument probes throughout the process, effectively measuring and recording chemical dosing such as antifoam and polymer to ensure the site is operating within compliance. Working with different assets from the preliminary stage to tertiary treatment.
  • Shift Cover - Worked often with the shift team, working different shift patterns for long term sickness or annual leave independently, covering all aspects of the site.
  • Bran Sands Control Room - Worked very closely, shadowing Bran Sands control room operators to gather a strong understanding of the role. Once competent, I have since covered the control room on many occasions independently, showing strong decision making and overall site knowledge.
  • AAD - Advanced Anaerobic Digestion (AAD). Worked closely with technicians and other operators in learning how we process sludge and indigenous cake loads from other Northumbrian water sites. Carried out critical duties and task libraries, as well as thorough analysis of SCADA. Lots of time spent optimising the process, including transferring my analytical skill set from ETW, carrying out VFA and sludge samples to optimise Biogas production. Involvement in planning and carrying out multiple shutdowns on our Cambi thermal hydrolysis plant, as well as using correct procedures in big maintenance jobs, such as Lock off, Tag off, and Permit to work to always remain safe.
  • Gas To Grid - Carried out daily checks on our BUP (Biomethane Upgrade plant) to ensure safe and optimal operation is achieved. Working and liaising with key contractors for reactive work and preventative maintenance, to ensure our BUP & GEU (Grid Entry Unit) remain operational.
  • Industrial Tanker Team - Spent around 8 months learning the tanker section, fully signed off competent by the Liquid Waste Treatment Manager in all aspects of the role. I’m now fully confident to carry out all aspects of the role, including sampling the trade effluent, offloading the trade effluent and noticing anomalies with the effluent. Competent on hazardous and none hazardous waste, following COSHH procedures and legislation
  • Health and Safety - I’ve carried out all required training courses ie; Confined space entry, permit to work and following SSOPs. LOTO including plant preparation, including flushing, draining and preparing jobs for maintenance. Bran Sands safety champion, taking a lead in safety with SIG meetings and ensuring the safety of myself and others.

Newspaper delivery

Evening Gazette
2018.11 - 2021.10
  • Time management, ensuring all newspapers were delivered by a designated time every day.
  • Lone working, carrying out a large round every day.
  • Communication skills, had to engage with multiple customers and ensure their wellbeing during hard times such as COVID-19.
  • Problem Solving, any issues with newspapers such as late delivery or incorrect numbers, I would rectify the issue myself.
  • Working with challenging customers, Through the pandemic, customers were reluctant for newspaper delivery, so I needed to show care and compassion to everyone’s individual circumstances.
