  • Within my role as an Overseas Visitor Registration Officer with Merseyside Police I completed the following...
  • Responsible for face to face interviews with various foreign nationals ascertaining their visa and passport status.
  • Completing their PRC (Police Registration Certificate) and ensuring they were aware of the responsibilities therein.
  • Maintaining a database and collating figures on a monthly basis as to the numbers of foreign nationals have attended the station and the reasons for their attendance i.e a new certificate, change of passport or a change of visa status.
  • Reporting and collating breaches of visa status to Merseyside Police as well as the Home Office.
  • Dealing with and processing asylum seekers who have attended the station.This would entail ensuring their welfare needs are addressed and contacting relevant agencies to help with their transition into custody.
  • Processing any applicable fees for the PRC...this would be achieved by either cash or card.
  • Completing cash processes and ensuring its safe storage. On a monthly basis I would be responsible for depositing the funds at the bank.
  • Dealing with members of the public who have attended the station enquiry office unaware that it wasn't open to them.This would involve giving advice and contacting other stations and agencies to help with their many differing enquiries.
