• Responsible for operation of main power and distribution network, including start-ups, running and synchronisation of two 24MW gas turbine generators.

• Based in the office in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire I was responsible for providing fire and gas detection systems support to clients throughout the world.
• This support was provided through a combination of remote dialogues, onshore site visits, offshore site visits and overseas visits.
• The work scopes on site involved fire and gas detection system installations, commissioning of new systems and fault finding on existing systems.
• Fault finding and commissioning work scopes overseas, regularly coordinating projects and supporting local teams on site.
• The support provided from the office included remote support via conference calls, phone calls and emails.
• Creation of related system loop drawings, cause and effect charts, P&ID and fire and gas layout drawings.
• Creation of as-built drawing packs for project handovers and carried out a variety of site surveys before generation of job proposals and quotations.
• Notable project experiences;
• BP Argus Mad Dog Project, Geoje Island, South Korea. This project involved the commissioning, SAT and full handover of 180 new visual flame detectors on board the new semi-submersible in dry dock. I was also responsible for the training of the maintenance team on board.
• BP West Nile Delta Project, Alexandria, Egypt. This project included the fault finding, rectification and commissioning of new visual flame detectors and video management systems within the new gas plant. Coordinating all work scopes through to full hand over through a combination of remote technical support and site visits.

• Ex inspections and asset data collection during surveying campaign.
• Assistof operations team and supported various activities within the compressor stations.
• Installation, operation, repair and maintenance of equipment where required.

• Pre-commissioning and commissioning team on board the Glen Lyon FPSO, North Atlantic Ocean, West of Shetland.
• Commissioning of all E&I equipment on board.
• This involved inspections and testing of all associated wiring, cold loop checks and final testing.
• Equipment included umbilical risers and fibre optics, trace heating systems, associated cabling for ESDV systems, instrumentation systems and general lighting and power systems.
• Line walks were carried out on all equipment to identify any issues and problems, then rectified when required.

• Part of the installation and commissioning team during a 24MW gas turbine generator retrofit.
• This was on board the Ninian Central Platform, stripping out all existing wiring throughout the unit and replacing it.
• A full rewire was carried out from the motor control centre to all devices and equipment.
• This equipment included critical instrumentation, motors, heaters, JBs and lighting and power.

• Worked within the EX inspection team at the new Total Gas Plant in Shetland.
• This was during the pre-commissioning phase of the project.
• EX inspections were carried out on all LV systems and instrumentation systems throughout the site.
• Remedial work was carried out where required.
• Acted as a counter signatory during cable cold loop checks within the QA/QC team.
• Relevant paper work for all EX inspections and cold loop checks were signed and filed when completed.

• Carried out EX maintenance, inspections and remedial work on all LV and instrumentation systems on board the Murchison Platform.

• Served my time at SSE as an electrician working within the distribution network substations and heavy industrial sites.
• This included the installation and testing of lighting and power, fire alarm systems and power distribution systems.
• Most of my apprenticeship was spent within the substations carrying out upgrades on switchgear and assisting the distribution team with operations.
