In my current role as Section Manager for Distribution and Plant, I am responsible for the leadership and operational management of a team of 22 staff, comprising 9 Technicians, 9 Team Leaders, 2 Supervisors, 1 Planner, and 1 Administrator. Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while also attending faults and faliures.

My key responsibilities include:

  • Safety & Assurance Leadership: I ensure that all staff are up to date with the latest safety guidance, standards, and assurance briefings. As a Responsible Manager, I authorise and approve Safe Work Packs for Persons in Charge, ensuring frontline teams are fully supported to work safely on the infrastructure.
  • Competency & Development Management: I oversee staff competencies by ensuring annual capability conversations are completed and that staff regularly apply and develop their competencies. I support continued development through tailored training opportunities and proactive succession planning.
  • Performance & Operational Oversight: I conduct weekly Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) with engineers, focusing on fault trends, asset failures, and safety concerns across the delivery unit. I work closely with team leaders and engineers to drive performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Work Planning & Contractor Coordination: I am responsible for coordinating works with internal teams and external contractors, ensuring activities are properly planned, resourced, and delivered safely and efficiently.

My role is integral to delivering safe, high-quality, and reliable operations within the Distribution and Plant function, while maintaining a strong focus on staff wellbeing, competence, and safety culture.
