Volunteer

All Saints Parish Church, Normanton

As a member of the church, I fulfilled a number of important roles:

  • Leading and preaching.
  • Three tenures as Church Warden over a 25 year period. This has resulted in valuable additional experience in dealing with various groups and individuals and having the pleasure of being instrumental in caring for the upkeep of historic Church, parts of which date from the 13th Century. This role has also involved procuring contractors, liaising with architects and applying for HLF funding.
  • Parish Representative on two separate occasions, putting together a Parish Profile and subsequently interviewing and appointing a new incumbent.
  • Lay Vice Chairman of PCC.
  • Deanery Synod Member.
  • Home group leader.
  • Youth group leader.

CPAS
Venture Leader 01/1998 - 08/2007
I was overall leader for a CPAS Pathfinder Venture, organising a residential holiday for 11-14 year olds each year and providing a variety of outdoor activities, craft and creative sessions, sports and games. The Venture also encouraged young people in their Christian faith journey and we were privileged to see many young people's lives transformed.

New Wine
Festival Steward and Deputy Venue Steward.
Deputy Chief Venue Steward at the New Wine Inspire Conference.

Passions

Sharing the Gospel
I have always sensed a calling from God to share the Gospel and for many years believed that I was called to minister to those whom I employed. I answered the call to Ordained Ministry in 2016 and stepped back from a long career in the legal profession to complete my studies.

Mission Shaped Ministry
I undertook the Mission Shaped Ministry Course in 2015/16 and was enthused by the call to explore new ways of being Church in the 21st Century.

Making disciples of all

Jesus' final command to his disciples was for them to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28.19) and I am passionate about coming alongside God in this mission.

I am passionate about our built heritage and photography

I curate www.fotochurch.com, a website specialising in ecclesiastical photography.

Music
I enjoy all types of music and play bass guitar.

Hobbies

I enjoy kayaking and rock climbing, and was previously a qualified climbing instructor.
