I have been a Dental Treatment Coordinator at Mydentist since the start of the year. My role in this job is to ensure that I am front and centre for managing patient care and their journeys, making sure I provide excellent communication between a variety of different patients whether that be from our youngest visitors to those who may require a little bit more time and attention. It is also my responsibility to build and maintain positive relationships with patients, especially those who find the dentist a nervous experience, by being a familiar face in the dentist it allows me to check up on those patients and reassure them that I am here for them if they have any concerns or worries they would like to express to me. During my day to day shift I also set aside time in my schedule where I will work independently this will be to reply back to emails, follow up with patients about their treatment plans, contact outside agency's, create social media posts and organise and plan the next upcoming events we have. I also work closely with everyone in the practice such as practice manager, dentists, receptionist, and even the trainee dental nurses where I help to give them support and advice during their apprenticeship with us and be their for them as a role model.

During my day to day shift I am helping to assist dentists by passing instruments, suctioning fluids, mixing materials for impressions and most importantly putting patient care and safety first ensuring they are provided with safe PPE and giving consistent support and reassurance.

I also take part in clinical procedures, including dental examinations, fillings, extractions and general worries or concerns about treatment or help and advice assessments.

My other duties include sterilising dental tools and instruments between patients, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards but also being able to multitask and stick to time frames ensuring instruments are being cleaned disinfected and ready for the next patient.

As a nurse I have to be able to communicate with a wide range of different patients varying from young children who need a little extra support and reassurance to those who are hard of hearing or may require special assistance. I am there to cater to everybody’s needs and make sure we give them a positive experience in the dental setting.

I can professionally and effectively organise a patient personal treatment plan making sure it is in the correct order and times and prices match what the patient has been told , this has to be done on a fast working pace as some appointments/ consultations may only have a short appointment time and I need to be creating the plan whilst listening to the dentist at the same time.

During my four years as an apprentice within the nursery, I have maintained a consistently safe environment following nursery guidelines, which include internal policies, external legislation and regular training courses. As a key worker to numerous children I am responsible for their well being and development to ensure that their social, physical and emotional needs are met. This can be done through a kind and encouraging environment for children to learn and explore through play. As the head of arts in the nursery I am in charge of planning and delivering sessions for small and large groups of children tailored made to suit the individual and in line with the Early Years development guidelines. I have established and maintained positive relationships with parents, carers and nursery staff, and proven I can work with a large team or solo to complete daily tasks within a time frame. I am also there to safeguard and protect the welfare of young children in my care.

My job role involved me undertaking an induction and numerous training to ensure I delivered a range of activities in a safe environment. Meaning I am able to plan and deliver 4 high quality sessions during each shift, which meets the age range of the children attending. I can tailor make sessions to fit the needs of children who have additional needs such autism, ADHD and Down’s syndrome. I can confidently adapt sessions within short time scales to work around weather conditions and resources. I ensure that I maintain a safe environment by conducting regular checks on equipment and the facilities around them. I am also up to date on regular training including first aid, safeguarding and health and safety in the work place.

During the four years I have worked there I have always delivered my sessions with enthusiasm and positivity to include all children ensuring they reach their desired goal.
