Joanne Meadows

Data Protection Officer
Newtownabbey,Antrim

Summary

I am an experienced data protection professional and have worked to develop robust information governance policies and procedures in an organisation which handles highly sensitive information, much of it special category data, in a fast moving environment. I am a responsible and committed member of staff who is confident in engagement with staff at all levels in the organisation, including the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team. I have experience of investigating complex data incidents and liaising with the ICO on numerous occasions. I have also experience of records management and worked closely with the NI Public Records Office in the development of a Retention and Disposal Schedule which works to to enable compliance with a key data protection principle.

I am also committed to Action for Children's defining statement 'safe and happy childhood' and have been a Childline Volunteer Counsellor since January 2021. This has been extremely rewarding and also challenging and has given me a good understanding of issues affecting children and young people and the social and health care sector. I have been selected as the volunteer representative from the Belfast Childline base to sit on the Childline Advisory Group with staff and volunteers from across the organisation.
