I worked here alongside my university degree, with a large number of complex cocktail recipes and high paced environments in the centre of Cardiff. While part of a large team of 25+, putting guests first was the forefront of our service and making sure their requirements were met, meant that we had done our job right.
Before I went to university I worked here as a team member, however when COVID-19 arrived and team leaders were off quarantined I would fill in for them as a shift leader in charge of a team of 10+ on a shift and provide a fulfilling service to guests that would dine at our restaurant.
Since then I have returned each summer during university holiday periods and worked here as a bartender, food runner, floor member, and host with continuous tips and compliments for my service.
When COVID-19 forced restaurants to shut down, I was placed on the grounds team at kiln park with different team members for the month instead, during this role we worked in numerous weather conditions doing hard labour to make sure the park was keeping up to its high cleanliness standards.
As my first ever job I worked in the red roses pub where things were quiet one second, and then hectic the next, during this time I was the only worker on shift so I had to make sure I was creating an inviting atmosphere and keeping friendly with the guests in the pub, especially the regulars who saw it as their second home.
During my time in 6th form, I worked at Pembroke dock community school as work experience. I worked with kids of all age groups, this was a different environment for me however the teachers trusted me to manage classrooms and groups behaviour while focusing in on learning objectives while they weren't there. I also cultivated positive relationships with students, parents and staff too foster a supportive educational environment.
