I have worked in Family support for nearly ten years! I have a vast knowledge of experience in supporting individuals and families to develop long lasting coping skills ensuring a better future for them and their family.

During my time in this role I have gained in depth understanding of services available to families and how to best support them to engage with the most relevant service for them at the time.

I have great knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures and I have a calm and measured approach in tense situations. I pride myself in keeping timely and precise records of my support.

In my current role I manage a team of volunteers who I have trained and matched to families in the community. I hold my level 3 award in education and training. I am passionate about increasing individuals employability whilst helping them provide peer to peer support.

I have first hand experience with domestic abuse and I am skilled in offering the right support at the right time. I am skilled in supporting people referred in to engage with the correct services and make safe choices for themself, immediate and extended family.

During my time in post I have also taken on the role of smoking cessation advisor. I offered specialised nicotine replacement prescriptions and emotional support to women and partners who were already expecting a baby or trying to conceive. I received referrals from hospitals and enhanced midwifery teams targeting parents that were considered hard to reach.

I have attended lots of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) conferences in the past 3 years and I am very mindful to work with everyone I support following a trauma informed approach.

I would very much like to evolve into a new role where I am still working face to face with families but something that will challenge me and help me develop my skill set further.
