I'm a competitive speed and open water swimmer and regularly train with Thirsk White Horse Swim team. I enjoy working with swimmers and volunteer as a swim coach with the swim club. I am looking to leverage my NPLQ certification to secure a part time lifeguarding role. I have recently finished school and am starting college in September 2025 with the aim of studying A-level chemistry, biology and sport and exercise science.
I volunteer as a swim coach for Thirsk White Horse Swim Club. I coach all ages of swimmer from our most junior team members (tadpoles) to the senior (Masters) team members, many of whom are parents of younger swimmers, to help them improve their technique and prepare for competitions. I am responsible for health and safety of my lane while coaching, checking equipment and ensuring swimmers warm up and down correctly and remain on task at all times.
Last July I completed my work experience placement at Thirsk Veterinary Centre. During the week there I was able to experience surgeries and consultations with owners. I found it very useful because it improved my communication skills. As well as this I also worked on reception using IT equipment and welcoming customers.
