Lead a multidisciplinary team of ten data protection specialists, delivering comprehensive data protection services across the whole of the organisation, including service to the public and engagement with relevant external bodies, ensuring compliance with primary legislation.
Assess the impact of information management related issues to the organisation(s), identifying risk, mitigation and best practice. Monitoring and managing organisational compliance and associated plans and returns.
Organise the data protection function, ensuring the effective and efficient service provision through the ‘business partner’ model, aligned to the strategic objectives, management and supervision of the Data Protection Team including allocation and redistribution of workloads, training and mentoring, monitoring of performance and determining priorities with particular attention to accountability for the Force and compliance with statutory obligations. Produce relevant reports, correspondence, plans, contracts, assessments, partnership agreements, policy and guidance in relation to all aspects of data protection with especially in relation to projects that are of a higher complexity level, that require escalation from the Data Protection Team.
Liaise and build relationships with the senior leadership team in Force, acting as their single point of contact for information governance queries.
Liaise and build relationships with partner agencies, stakeholders, regional and national colleagues and the courts, providing subject matter expertise and acting as an expert witness for data protection offences.
Liaise and build relationship with the regulatory body (ICO) acting as their single point of contact for all enquiries.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, staying current on industry best practices and emerging trends in law enforcement.
Evaluate third-party processors for compliance with Force's privacy requirements, ensuring data protection throughout supply chain partnerships.
Participate in cross-functional projects requiring expertise in data protection and disaster recovery planning.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR by implementing stringent data protection measures across all aspects of the organisations information system landscape.
Collaborate with multiple departments to develop effective strategies for case management and resource allocation.
Conduct detailed investigations into data breaches and their underlying causes gathering essential evidence to support legal proceedings.
Evaluate staff performance through regular reviews, identifying areas for improvement while recognizing achievements that contributed positively to the department''s mission.
Conduct training sessions and formal presentations on various topics related to data protection responsibilities or community issues; educating colleagues while delivering a bespoke training program.
Assist in budget planning and management, allocating resources strategically for optimal department performance.
Review and updated department policies as needed to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Enhance team efficiency by streamlining communication processes and implementing new procedures.
