I have always had a real interest in working with children. I babysat my cousins from a young age which encouraged me to study childcare at college. I had two placements, one in a nursery setting and the other in a primary school during this time. This gave me the confidence and skills to work at a Pre school, which I loved, for 3 years. I particularly enjoyed getting to know children from different backgrounds, some with complex needs, and supporting their emotional wellbeing.
I decided to develop my knowledge further by studying and gaining my foundation degree in childhood and education. I worked closely with families during this time, carrying out various projects and observations on children and their early development.
I have spent the last two years working for children's services as a family time supervisor, working closely with vulnerable families. Although this role has been very eye opening and rewarding, I have found that I have missed getting fully involved with the children and their play and I would love to get this opportunity again.
I really enjoy being outside and recently spent 6 weeks travelling the east coast of Australia where I skydived and snorkelled in the great barrier reef. This was so much fun.
Family time supervisor- This involved supervising looked after children's contact with their birth families.
Skills I have learnt from this:
I worked as a key worker in a pre school setting, where I focused on my own group of key children.
During this time I:
I ran my first half marathon in September last year with my dad.
I skydived In Australia.
