Some of the extracurricular activities I take part in include dance, where I am currently at grade 6 in Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance. I am very passionate about it and even took the opportunity during the Duke of Edinburgh Award to volunteer and teach at my dance class. This experience not only deepened my love for the art but also helped me develop leadership and communication skills.
In addition, I attend St John Cadet weekly training in first aid, which has further honed my ability to stay calm and think quickly in unexpected situations. It has also enhanced my teamwork and communication skills, as we regularly collaborate and train together.
I have been working at First Class Learning Tuition Centre, where I primarily teach 11+ students. As someone who took the test myself not long ago, this role has taught me the importance of revisiting and reinforcing old knowledge. It’s been valuable to help students grasp concepts I once learned, and in doing so, I’ve had to refresh my own memory and adapt my teaching approach.
I worked in a fast-paced uniform shop as a retail assistant, where customer demands were high, especially during busy periods with long queues. This experience taught me resilience, as I had to remain calm and focused under pressure while ensuring customers received prompt and efficient service. I learned to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing customer satisfaction and maintaining a positive attitude even in challenging situations.
As a class assistant, I marked children’s work and provided support in both maths and English. This role helped me develop patience, as I learned how to work with students at different levels and ensure they understood the material. I also gained valuable experience in communicating clearly and assisting children in a positive and encouraging manner.
