I was responsible for greeting customers upon arrival to the garage and discussing their needs and providing them with prices and quotes and then carrying out the necessary work to the vehicles. This included: changing the tyres, exhausts, batteries, breaks and other jobs that needed carrying out on the vehicle.
Within my role, I was also responsible for delivering tyres and exhausts to other companies and trades. Along with this, I was also responsible for cashing up the tills and taking on more responsibility as Assistant Manager at the garage, which gave me the opportunity to do re-ordering for the whole garage, responsibility for overseeing the team, ensuring that the team worked towards the targets that were set. I also was responsible for training up new starters when they joined the team.
During the course of my employment from January 2009 to present, I have picked up many different roles due to being TUPI'd from each previous company due to ending of contract tenders.
Some of these roles included: Reinstatement mate - (Reinstating of tarmac) White top - (concrete, top soil, edging.) Grab Drivers Mate - (assisting with the help of clearing sights and backfilling.) Digging Crew - (excavations on LV and HV cables, street light and service cables. Digging in the highway using radio detection equipment and using machinery to achieve this, ensuring that I maintain personal and team safety while keeping up to date on all mandatory training and certificates. I also worked along side National Grid on emergency works out of hours as part of my job) Barrier man (present) - (Delivering Signing, Lighting and Guarding for example; barriers, signs and cones to sights for teams to carry out their daily jobs, clearing sights once work is complete in conjunction with carrying out risk assessments as part of the Street Works Act 1991. I am currently using remote technology to record jobs, send emails and correspond with management while also keeping up to date with new jobs coming in. I am currently also responsible for backfilling, top soiling and maintaining sight safety to keep the public protected from harm.)
