Volunteer

  • International Citizenship service, Volunteer, 2020-03-01, 2020-04-30, I travelled to a small village in Tanzania, where I spent time volunteering in a school. Our aim was to educate the children about important issues in their community such as hygiene, water sanitation, women's health, and recognising abuse. The trip was meant to go on for 3 months however it was cut short due to boarders being closed.
  • Koh Mak Animal Clinic, Volunteer, 2023-05-01, 2023-06-30, During my travels around Southeast Asia, I spent a month volunteering at a non-profit organisation in Thailand. The animal clinic was run by one individual and the rest of the support came from volunteers and locals. This was an incredible and rewarding experience. The clinic served as a haven for stray dogs or local pets, who were taken in and cared for. As volunteers we stuck to a strict routine of feeding, walking and treating the animals. It was an amazing way to immerse myself in the culture of the island and country.
  • Hostel, Bar and Cafe, Volunteer, 2023-07-01, 2023-11-30, After travelling some more, I decided I preferred the idea of volunteering. I found work in a hostel in Malaysia, where I ended up staying for four months. I had various and random daily tasks, usually I would support with reception and guest relations, or social events held for guests of the hostel, however, during my stay, the owners decided to open a new bar and Cafe, so there were many days I was painting, cleaning, DIY and even some plumbing! Once the Bar/Cafe successfully opened my jobs would involve, mixing, pouring and serving various beverages, taking orders and waiting on tables with food and drinks.
