  • I have previously worked as a ward based Pharmacy Technician and have been for 9 years plus which involved Stock control, medicine management, medicine optimisation, Transcribing, medical Histories. I was based on the Medical assessment unit for 5 years and I was involved in the process of implementing the new omniel unit which holds the majority of the ward stock medication of which I was in control of choosing the correct stock to support the needs of the ward. Guided staff in proper procedures for controlled drugs and facilitated monthly meetings to address any issues. Executed patient’s medical requisitions and Transcribed TTOs for discharge. In 2021 I moved roles to a newly established Frailty Ward, here I was able to use my skills to support the new staff and ward manager with any issues involving medication management. I helped identify what stock medication was needed for the patients and also advised on different Pharmacy procedures including those regarding controlled drugs. In 2021 I moved onto Bevan Court (a specialist Frailty Unit), a busy Unit which comprised of 3 areas - an acute ward, an intermediate care ward and an ambulatory unit assessing medication requirements to match patient needs while supporting new staff and the ward manager with medication related issues. I managed TTO preparations efficiently across two wards and a clinic. Liaised effectively with consultants, doctors, nurses, discharge coordinators and pharmacists to ensure the ward service was ran as efficiently as possible, this involved attending daily ward handovers and ward round meetings earning recognition as a valued team member. I Assisted in training new dispensers on the ward to ensure compliance with established processes. Conducted daily accuracy checks on inpatient and outpatient prescriptions and TTOs through consistent pharmacy monitoring, along with weekly checks in the main dispensary. Participated in audits to identify and address arising issues effectively. Council patients on a regular basis about changed medications and appliances.
