I consider Iam a highly motivated person who continues to challenge myself throughout life. My customer service skills have been developed over many years and I feel I can communicate effectively with a wide range of customers. I enjoy working as part of a team but am happy to work on my own initiative. I am highly organised and believe in having good systems in place.
I started the business with my husband and stepson during covid. The business was pick and mix sweets chosen online and posted out to customers throughout the UK. My role initially was picking and packing the sweets and overseeing the Royal Mail collection. I also carried out all of the book keeping for the company.
Served hot food to both academic staff and students of Nottingham University in a part-time role. Maintained the salad bars and provided lunchtime service. Assisted chefs in preparing salad bar foods.
I purchased a small village store with limited stock and very limited opening hours. Over time I orchestrated a complete turnaround of the business to a thriving store open until 9pm at night with a full range of products and a Post Office. I introduced "food to go" throughout the day together with a wide offering of premium fresh products and convenience meals. This required rigorous health, hygiene and stock control together with a documented cleaning system. We became a Spar Retailer which allowed me to maintain my independence whilst using Spar's expertise. Aside from the financial side I prioritised the store's role in the local community. I hosted wine tastings, food samplings and charity initiatives. We had staff of around 10 part-time employees. They were all trained to deliver a high standard of customer service and efficiency.
