Work history

Children support worker

HAYA charity
01.2022 - 01.2024
  • I had the privilege of volunteering with the HAYA charity, where I organised both indoor and outdoor activities for children with special needs, including children with autism
  • Each session, I worked with small groups of 3-5 children, alongside a team of other dedicated volunteers
  • I built individual profiles for each child, focusing on how they interacted with others and their progress in building confidence
  • Some of the activities I organised included face painting, and drawing, as well as reading and writing sessions
  • These sessions were incredibly fulfilling, as they helped me develop valuable skills in working with children
  • I found great joy in supporting them and saw it as a truly rewarding experience
  • I also held regular meetings with parents to provide updates on their children's progress, discuss ongoing sessions, and involve them in decision-making for upcoming activities
  • This helped me grow my understanding of children's behavior, as well as how to effectively support their emotional and developmental needs

  • Together, we read a diverse range of books—from fairy tales to informational texts—which not only strengthened her reading abilities but also sparked her imagination and curiosity about the world around her
  • In addition to literacy, I placed a strong emphasis on mathematics
  • We explored numbers through enjoyable activities like counting objects in the house, playing math games, and solving simple addition and subtraction problems
