Summary

My name is Jamie Kirkwood and I am currently in the position of Head of Rowing at The American School In London. During my time so far at ASL I have overseen some substantial changes with regards to improving the way the Boat Club has been run on and off the water, improving the relationship between the school and club itself, increasing participation to its highest recorded numbers as well as recording our best ever results at numerous different competitions including National Schools Regatta.

I have been involved with rowing and coaching since I was 14 year's old and have such love for my sport. I have been lucky enough to row at all different levels culminating in representing my country at the highest level. My coaching career has led me to coach at some fantastic places with varying levels of experience from coaching Olympic level athletes in the Boat Race system to coaching complete beginners in schools. I find it just as rewarding coaching such varying levels of experience and always find a way to make the rower/student/pupil enjoy themselves whilst trying to excel in the sport.

I am a very hard worker and will really throw myself into whatever project comes along at me. During my time at Imperial College at Coached multiple novice crews to many wins and medals across the 3 years whilst also coaching Seniors crews to Finals at Henley Royal Regatta and Winning Crews at Henley Women's Regatta showing I can excel with beginners through to senior university Students.

During my rowing coaching carer I want to always be seeing my 'pupils' enjoying themselves but at the same time pushing them on to the best possible results they can achieve. I still hold all the same exact competitiveness I had when I was a full time rower for Great Britain which I like to think rubs off on the athletes I work with and helps to enable them to push themselves to the limit.
