As a Facilities Captain in the Film Industry, my responsibilities and roles would include:
1. Overseeing the daily operations of the filming facility, ensuring that everything is running smoothly.
2. Coordinating with film crews and production teams regarding the specifications and requirements of the set.
3. Supervising setting up and breakdown of sets or locations for film shoots.
4. Ensuring that the facility and its equipment are maintained at their best.
5. Handling necessary repairs and upgrades in a timely manner and coordinating with different service providers/vendors for this.
6. Regularly inspecting the premises, identifying any issues, and rectifying them swiftly.
7. Ensuring that the facility adheres to all safety protocols and laws.
8. Assisting in the setup of sound, lighting, and other necessary equipments.
9. Managing the schedule and booking of the facility.
10. Addressing the queries and concerns of the employees and clients related to the facility.
11. Keeping track of inventory and ordering new supplies when needed.
12. Coordinating with other departments like security, catering, props, etc. to ensure everything is in place for a successful shoot.
13. Supervise a team of facilities staff including drivers, technicians and maintenance workers. To provide guidance, training and support to all members, ensuring efficient and effective performance.
14. To participate in location scouting to identify suitable filming locations and coordinate with location owners and managers for permits, agreements and logistic. During filming ensure that the locations meet the productions needs and to handle any issues that arise.
As all facilities vehicles are HGV or large vans the logistical side of the job included the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Developing and optimizing efficient routes for the transport of trailers in compliance with delivery times, routes, and fuel costs.
2. Liaising with drivers and transport staff to ensure smooth coordination.
3. Taking into consideration any weight, height, and speed restrictions when planning routes.
4. Keeping detailed records and logs of routes and job allocations.
5. Coordinating with producers, directors handling their inquiries and concerns related to transportation and delivery of trailers.
6. Ensuring compliance with local and national transport regulations such as driving hours, hazardous goods transportation rules etc.
7. Monitoring and tracking the status of deliveries in real-time and making necessary adjustments to routes and schedules on-the-go.
8. Assessing the impact of route alterations due to roadworks, accidents, or other traffic disruptions and offering alternative route solutions.
9. Reflecting on feedback, regrets, and successful deliveries to improve future route plans.
10. Arranging routine maintenance and safety inspections of HGVs to ensure that they remain in good working order and meet all legal requirements.
1. Installing, maintaining, and repairing oil fired boiler systems.
2. Regularly inspecting boilers for any potential issues.
3. Test components and systems for potential leaks and other issues using diagnostic equipment.
4. Analyzing blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine the most efficient arrangement of boiler system resources.
5. Ensuring all boiler operations are in compliance with local laws and safety regulations.
6. Monitoring boiler water, fuel, and chemical levels, and making necessary adjustments.
7. Preparing and maintaining log of boiler operation, maintenance, and safety activities.
8. Responding to emergency situations quickly to repair disrupted boiler systems.
10. Undertake boiler efficiency and other system tests, on a regular basis.
