  • Managing the audiological needs of a range of deaf students across the school from year 7-13
  • Conducting detailed language assessments and speech in noise tests on the deaf students to identify areas of linguistic delay and forming detailed reports for staff and families
  • Updating students' profiles with relevant targets and disseminating to staff
  • Organising Annual Reviews with parents and external agencies
  • Conducting daily psychoacoustic tests on hearing aids and speech processors and radio aids
  • I work with a range of equipment including Oticon and Phonak hearing aids, Advanced Bionics CI processor, Rogers Touchscreens, Edumics, Roger X receivers
  • Conducting ½ termly electroacoustic checks on hearing aids and Cochlear Implant processors
  • Conducting speech in noise tests each ½ term for deaf students using the new West Sussex protocol
  • Conducting whole school deaf awareness training for staff and students and conducting drop in observations to take sound level readings and see if staff are being Deaf Aware

  • High quality deaf awareness INSET training is provided to staff and students.
  • 1:1 tutorials with deaf students is delivered according to students' needs.
  • Regular language assessments to gain a thorough understanding of their language level.
  • In-class specialist support meets the requirements of each student.
  • I work with various agencies including the SALT team, OT, primary schools and West Sussex SST.
  • Students' needs are met in relation to their EHCPs including Exam Access Arrangements for BSL users.
