From relocating to the Rotherham Factory I was tasked with
planning and executing the new factory layout. This involved getting existing staff who moved with the company from East Sussex and integrate them with staff who were already working on site in Rotherham. Re-arranging machinery, work benches and making sure health and safety measures are kept whilst doing the above.
Having to show new staff the current process whilst also couching current staff to show and train others.
Doing the above whilst also maintaining production of the speakers and finally undertake a new product and doing the spec sheets and instructions.
Officially became manager during the Pandemic, a challenging time but the business became extremely busy and demand tripled.
During this time I had increase my team from 8 to 12, doing interviews hiring of staff and also delegate some of my pervious work and assign a new supervisor. Also modify the factory layout to cater for the increase staff and also make sure everyone had at least a 2 meter gap whilst maintaining the new COVID guidelines.
As Demand was so high and space was limited in the Hailsham Factory, I had to assemble a smaller team being set up in Rotherham, which parts would be sent up and they would be assembled and packed.
Lastly which is properly been the hardest thing to do in my career was having to make redundancies, after the boon of COVID wore down and sales started to steady which also resulted in upper management deciding to move the whole operation to Rotherham where we currently built the wooden boxes for the speakers as the factory was much bigger and had plenty of space.
When starting as supervisor my roles and tasks increased over the years. Managing the work flow, assigning work to other employees, helping staff and supporting them, to later being apart of management meetings, having a deeper understanding of the business and production procedure. during this time I felt that I grew a lot as a person and understood at that point in my life I wanted to go further.
My Journey at Spendor Audio Systems started with assembling the main loud Speakers. this involved putting many parts into a wooden cabinet which in turn, resulted into a loud speaker.
During my time, I learnt many other aspects of the loudspeaker assembly. Which included PCB crossovers, Putting capacitors and resistors onto a circuit board, also winding coils and soldering them onto a circuit board.
Learning the assembly of drive units which put simply is where the sounds comes out from. I learnt the use of a magnetiser, using strong glues and making sure that keeping the area of work tidy as the smallest of dirt can affect the performance of
lastly Packaging of the Loud Speakers, as final QC and being the last set of eyes to see the product before the customer, making sure everything is clean and packed properly without missing any accessories, Making sure everything is labelled correctly and picking the good which would be going with the local courier or going onto a pallet which shipments are going overseas to different country's,
