PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • During my time at sea I gained vital experience in marine operations and led crew members in potentially high-risk activities, such as mooring operations. My time spent at sea with BP gave me relevant industry skills that I was then able to apply to my shore-based roles.
  • I have been able to greatly develop these skills in my roles at Svitzer and Boluda, particularly in my current role. I have become passionate about driving managers and employees to think safety differently, where we accept that incidents will occur, and whilst we continue to implement mitigations to prevent incidents, we also build capacity within our operations to be able to fail safely.
  • I have also held learning teams, understanding those closest to the work understand it best, particularly where it can be challenging to be able to conduct work safely. During these learning teams employees are encouraged to speak openly about how they actually conduct work, not what the procedure says, we then use their operational insight to identify the issues, and more importantly encourage them to develop the solutions.
  • I have become experienced in multiple stakeholder management both internal and external. My role requires me to regularly engage with managers both within the UK and Senior Managers within the European HQ, as well as crew members on-board and external regulatory bodies. All aimed at ensuring both safety of operations and regulatory compliance
