Breaking down machine set ups, cleaning all equipment and tooling used and tidying up the work area to maintain its cleanliness and safety.
Assigning jobs to multiple machines based on their urgency within the work priority list, providing a detailed list of tooling to tool stores and making sure the tooling is correct.
Sourcing the correct material from material stores for the current job, ensuring it is traceable within the companies database to the machine.
Setting up the bar feeder and parts catcher so the machine can run autonomously, once its set up.
Inputting accurate tool data and offsets into the machine, inserting the tooling into the correct pockets.
Retrieving the correct program for the current job from the companies database, uploading this into the machine and watching through the program simulation to check for potential faults or issues.
Proving out programs, making adjustments to the program and offsets in the tool data until the part meets the specifications provided to me.
Completing manual and visual checks of the completed part. Including; measurement checks, threads, surface finish and checking for burrs or blemishes.
Completing and stamping paperwork for each job i receive, ensuring each process completed is correct and traceable.
Using Solidworks models to check if any part dimensions are not included in the provided drawing. Using Edgecam simulations to solve complex issues within the program/setup.
Working as a team with people from multiple sections, maintaining a pleasant and respectful working environment and improving lead times.
Training and helping out new starters and apprentices wherever necessary.
Working with a range of materials and machinery on a daily basis.
Reducing material waste, prolonging tool life, editing machine programs to make them more efficient and decrease lead times/improve quality.
