Nightshift Supervisor

Co-op Food
Aberfeldy, Perth and Kinross
2016.07 - Current
  • Soon after I started at the Co-op I was promoted to the nightshift supervisor at 18 years old and I have been in this role ever since.
  • A big part of my job is ensuring all staff comply to the Health and Safety guidelines of the store at all times. For example, appropriate footwear and uniform are being worn, making sure cages are being built and manoeuvred correctly minimising the risk of injury.
  • As the supervisor it is my duty to ensure the fire exits are clear at all times and fire extinguishers are accessible and are in full working order. It is my duty to ensure all staff are aware of the protocols incase a fire incident should occur.
  • Due to the store being a twilight store we receive deliveries in the evening. Therefore, I am often tasked with taking in the deliveries this consists of firstly ensuring the warehouse is clear and ready for the delivery, greeting the driver, checking the paper work is in order and matches up with what has been delivered and also storing the cages as safely as possible not blocking any walk ways.
  • As an individual I am physically fit and find myself doing 15,000-20,000 steps per shift. My job is very physical and manual handling based.
  • I have 10 years of customer service experience although I work on the night shift I often start earlier in order to help out the day shift team and have a lot of experience dealing with members of the public by being able to help and assist them in any way I can.
  • I see myself very much as a team player. A typical nightshift will consist of 4-6 staff on each night and within that we have a big range of ages and abilities. I take it upon myself to make sure everyone is helping each other at all times and I feel this creates a very positive working atmosphere which allows everyone to perform at there best.
