Work History

Software Engineer

BT
09.2021 - Current
  • Spearheaded the full lifecycle development of testing suites for our CLI pipeline product, containing 10+ test suites, 300+ tests, 2500+ lines of succinct python unittest code, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Built a ‘Test suite platform’ using a Dockerised Vue.js frontend, RESTful Node.js backend, and MongoDB database. Managed end-to-end CI/CD processes, including API, unit, Jest, and Selenium testing. This agile approach ensured a streamlined development cycle and improved software quality.
  • Actively contribute to 40+ peer reviews and 6+ major and minor software enhancements each month. Identified 5 major flaws through extensive testing and reviewing, and solved these through specific research, knowledge sharing, and pair-programming.
  • Successfully delivered 5 graduates onto customer-facing projects as industry-ready full-stack software developers, by creating and managing our team’s graduate training programme in which 9 internal software workshops and learning pathways are run, covering both full-stack and DevOps skillset
  • Secured £72k for project funding by successfully delivering a full-stack MVP project within the deadline. Its tech stack featured a RESTful Node.js backend with a Vue.js Vuetify single-page app web UI. This empowered non-technical programmers to effortlessly create Ansible playbooks from scratch, significantly increasing the production of dependable, error-free code scripts, with a faster turnaround.
  • Improved CI/CD pipeline runtime speeds by over 60% by enhancing custom Ansible roles to streamline resource configuration and automate application deployment, integrating Terraform with state management to efficiently provision and manage vSphere cloud infrastructure, and optimising and redesigning legacy code .
  • Led workshops on our CI/CD automated testing pipeline product to successfully onboard 2 new teams and delivered 3 product update releases and 1 major product version release in the past 6 months.
  • Attained 8 new teams to integrate our product with and significantly improved cross-functional collaboration on software development and defining requirements by organising and proactively engaging in quarterly and weekly customer product updates.
  • Delivered weekly product features weekly for evolving customer needs by driving positive and efficient change, taking ownership of time, and producing results within an agile team on the continuous delivery of CI/CD automation pipelines on a daily basis.

Project Manager

Team Bath Drones
02.2020 - 07.2021
  • Managed an entrepreneurial-style industry-supported research group on producing bespoke UAVs for life-saving missions. Developed supplier and sponsorship relationships, and researched and analysed data on emerging technologies in the UAV sector. I used my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills to ensure my team collaborated positively both remotely and in person, remained motivated, and stayed informed, to meet key project targets and deliver results.
  • Led a team, to design and manufacture a novel hydrogen fuel cell fixed-wing UAV to demonstrate the capabilities of hydrogen-powered flight. This design included UAV propulsion, energy, payload and vision systems, and their integration into a UAV. This vastly improved my ability in design and manufacturing, working under pressure to tight deadlines, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Combined structural and software knowledge to produce a Matlab model optimising the design of a wing structure to optimise mass reduction and performance improvement. I developed my ability to coordinate work and bridge technical knowledge across a team, to use model-based design to convert real-world problems into logical and accurate solutions.
  • Produced detailed component designs and CAD models of fully integrated hydrogen VTOL UAVs and their structural composite shells using parametric modelling in Autodesk Inventor.
  • Produced and presented detailed technical and business plan proposals, presentations, reports, and posters to customers and researchers. This significantly improved my knowledge of business operations, assessing markets, and the process of developing products to meet the target market.
  • Prioritised between customer and stakeholder requirements, developed technical solutions to identified problems and worked with the customer to provide new solutions for R&D within the UAV industry. This improved my research, problem-solving, and communication skills, liaising between researchers and customers to produce technical solutions for additional requirements.

Mechanical Engineer (contractor)

3P Innovation
07.2020 - 08.2020
  • Designed and tested concepts for automated machinery for handling powder filling and light curtain safety systems with rapid prototyping to reduce cost and development times. I improved my ability to problem solve under pressure to convert concepts to physical working designs in a fast turnaround.
  • Collaborated with software engineers to construct, process test, and adjust actuated robotic arms. I used my developed technical knowledge to improve designs and retrofit assemblies to improve their performance.

Mechanical Engineer

3P Innovation
08.2018 - 08.2019
  • Led, developed, and manufactured on all stages of the system development lifecycle for all 8 original major sections of our £1.6m aseptic powder filling machine, as well as solely designing a further 3 major sections to meet evolving customer needs and further increase customer funding.
  • Secured a £2.5m deal for a secondary machine by significantly impressing the customer with the competence and quality of work produced, and leadership and time management to ensure resources were being used effectively to meet project targets.
  • Produced and delivered a comprehensive 78-page product design risk and quality management system to 8 senior customers. Improved project operation efficiency by developing a BoM management system for the sourcing, purchasing, inventory, and distribution of goods for a £1.6m project.
  • Collaborated in teams integrating and testing pneumatic, mechanical, and sensor systems within a manufactured isolator. My problem-solving and teamwork skills resulted in numerous solutions being produced quickly and using my technical knowledge, I outlined the necessary plan to fix these problems.
