• My research interest is grounded in Strategic Financial Leadership, with a strong emphasis on understanding how finance managers and senior financial leaders influence strategic decision-making processes within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Drawing on my academic background in accounting and finance, as well as practical experience in financial management roles across healthcare and construction sectors, I am particularly interested in the intersection between financial expertise, leadership behaviour, and organisational strategy.
• The proposed research seeks to examine how finance managers contribute beyond traditional accounting functions to strategic planning, risk management, performance measurement, and long-term value creation. It will explore the leadership competencies, decision-making frameworks, and governance mechanisms that enable finance professionals to act as strategic partners within SMEs. Particular attention will be given to how financial leaders balance short-term financial control with long-term strategic objectives in resource-constrained environments.
• The overarching aim of the research is to develop an evidence-based strategic financial leadership model that integrates financial, behavioural, and strategic dimensions. This model is intended to provide practical guidance for SME finance managers and senior leaders, supporting improved strategic decision-making, sustainable growth, and organisational resilience. The research aligns closely with the applied and practice-oriented nature of the DBA programme.

• Proposed DBA Research Project: Strategic Financial Leadership: How Finance Managers Influence Strategic Decision-Making in SMEs (doctoral research in development). This project will form the core of my DBA thesis and aims to contribute original, practice-oriented insights to the field of strategic finance and leadership.
• Research and Academic Writing Development: Actively engaged in developing academic writing skills, literature reviews, and methodological approaches in preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals and DBA working paper series. Current areas of focus include strategic finance, leadership theory, corporate governance, and SME performance.
• Conference and Practitioner Engagement (Planned): Intend to submit research abstracts to DBA colloquia, business school research seminars, and practitioner-focused conferences related to accounting, finance, and management. These forums will be used to present emerging findings, receive scholarly and practitioner feedback, and refine the research model.
• Knowledge Dissemination and Impact: Future dissemination plans include publishing applied research findings in peer-reviewed journals and professional outlets, as well as sharing insights with SME leaders and finance practitioners through workshops, reports, and professional networks.
