  • Communications management: I am in charge of all Midlands4Cities comms, including the monthly newsletter. I run the LinkedIn page, build the LinkedIn alumni network, and send out informative emails to both students and partners. I commission, edit and publish student blog posts on placement and public engagement activities.
  • Programme delivery: I deliver the student training programme in response to student feedback and the needs of the current climate. I research appropriate trainers and speakers to commission workshops, panels, advice sessions and the annual careers week, strategically planning these over the academic year.
  • Events management: I run all aspects of M4C events from catering to venue booking, advertising, attendee lists and commissioning speakers. This includes the research festival, student inductions, returners’ days and careers events.
  • Facilitate personal and professional development: I support student research and professional development through one-to-one sessions where we determine a training and placement strategy to fit their aspirations.
  • Stakeholder engagement: I cultivate a network of partners from a range of sectors, including the creative and cultural industries, marketing and publishing (to name a few), to facilitate student placements, cross-sectoral partnerships and to deliver student training.
  • Strategic design: I collaborate with partners to design competitive placement programmes to develop student skills and to answer business needs. My recent placement successes include working with the Wellcome Collection, Coventry Biennial, Broadway Cinema, Fierce Festival and the Hockey Museum.
  • Process administrative documentation: I process documents including risk assessments, insurance, contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Presentation and reporting: I provide feedback at the quarterly Management Committee meeting and produce a written summary of placements, training and their impact for the annual AHRC report. I also deliver talks on how to organise a placement and procedural information to a wide student cohort.
  • Digital proficiency: I use the Microsoft package, including Excel, to keep track of placements and paperwork and to analyse data for reporting. I design and create banners for advertisements using Canva, I employ Mailchimp for the monthly newsletter, I regularly update the M4C website and Microsoft SharePoint with adverts for partnerships and events, I also use the URKI portal to research student data.
