Willing to take on greater responsibilities to meet team goals. Currently looking for work to fit around my university studies to qualify as a registered nurse to specialise in Ophthalmic.
My main role is to preform various ophthalmic imaging using a variety of techniques, for patients of all ages, ranging from children to the elderly and who have various communication abilities. This includes OCTs, Optos, colour fundus images, Fluorescein angiography, slit lamp imaging, external photography as well as ultrasounds.
I also assist in cataract clinics preforming biometry measurements using an IOL master as well as A scan ultrasounds.
I work within the Glaucoma virtual clinic, utilising additional clinical skills to complete a full assessment in line with the clinical protocols/procedures, this includes, visual acuity, visual fields, Goldmann tonometry, pachmetry and an anterior segment assessment..
I ensure i participate in the theoretical and clinical teaching of ophthalmic imaging to colleagues, students or other health professional visiting the department.
I maintain and enhance professional knowledge and skills required to undertake the role of ophthalmic science practitioner.
I ensure I follow compliance with infection control procedures.
Prepared clinical areas adequately to receive patients and ensuring all equipment for clinical procedures was available, when required.
Discussed clinical imaging procedures with patients and ensured that consent had been gained.
Performed necessary investigational and diagnostic procedures for which training had been given and competence achieved, such as visual acuity tests, instillation of drops, visual fields, auto refracting and focimetry.
Assisted in keeping the department clean and tidy, participating in regular cleaning of equipment and clinical areas.
Assist with ophthalmic treatments/procedures acting as the patients advocate.
Contributed to the effective day-to-day running of the department and assist in the development of good working practices e.g. help to support other members of the team.
