Work history

Holiday Home Manager

Mr Oliver Tomaszczyk
Prudhoe, Northumberland
2023.06 - Current
  • Built from scratch a successful ten person holiday cottage. Furnished and designed the layout of it to a very high standard.
  • Take care of everything from guest reservations, requests, welcome information to organising cleaning and laundry services.
  • Facilitated smooth check-in and check-out processes enhancing customer convenience.
  • Enhanced customer satisfaction by promptly responding to all enquiries. This has meant we are now a 'Superhost' on the holiday booking website.
  • I have formed strong bonds with local businesses which in turn means I can offer discounts to guests.
  • In the past I have also drafted Mr. Tomaszczyk housing tenancies (his main role is landlord to 40 properties).
  • Although it may seem that this role does not have any relation to my previous roles, I deal with people from all walks of life in different (sometimes difficult) situations. I try to use my mediation skills whenever possible to come to an agreeable conclusion to all parties.
  • Problem solving skills are a must in this line of work. Things go wrong and they need dealing with straight away, before check in. Cancelling a family's holiday is not possible so solutions must be found.

Restorative Justice Practitioner

Restorative Hub
Darlington, Durham
2018.02 - 2020.02
  • Dealt with cases within the community that had been deemed suitable for restorative resolution using The Restorative Justice Councils Best Practice Guidance For Restorative Justice
  • Mediated disputes to facilitate amicable resolutions.
  • Liaised with victims and perpetrators, gathering information, explaining the process of restorative approaches to conflict, ensuring they come into it voluntarily with the aim of resolution.
  • Risk assess in depth, not only the individuals involved but the facilities, before bringing any parties together.
  • Resolved conflicts in high-stress situations by employing negotiation skills and patience.
  • Facilitate high quality, future focused restorative justice meetings, keeping the aim of the meeting at the forefront.
  • Drafting the agreement between the parties ensuring everyne knows their role and is happy with the outcome. Informing all parties of the consequences of not adhering to the agreement.
  • Liasing with other professionals on outcomes and informing them if an agreement is not adhered to.

Referral Order Panel Member

Durham County Council
Durham, Durham
2017.03 - 2020.02
  • Dealt with young people and their families sent to us by the court for community sentencing ie a referral order. This role was through the Youth Offending Service as it was then known and was my introduction to Restorative Justice and restorative processes.
  • Facilitated meetings with panel members, ensuring adherence to Restorative Justice Council's Best Practice Guidance.
  • Selected programs for referral orders based on offence details, young person's attitude, professional recommendations, and family input.
  • Demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed, handling challenging situations with patience and calm.
  • Learned to quickly adapt my working style depending on the circumstances and attitude of the young person and their support network.
  • Successfully delivered on tasks within tight deadlines and hostile situations.
  • Worked flexible hours, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays. The panels were arranged around the young person to ensure engagement with the service.
  • With the YOS I also acted as a community mentor, helping vulnerable or lonely individuals with everyday problems, such as dealing with bills to finding community support groups.
  • Improved efficiency and productivity by acquiring new skills and taking part in any training offered. .

  • Carrying out in-depth risk assessments ensuring that the welfare of the child/children is always at the forefront of any decisions made (signs of safety model).
  • Building relationships with families to gain their trust and cooperation in the FGC process. Explaining it clearly and what is expected of them.
  • Facilitating the meeting, keeping all individuals on track, focused on solving their own problems.Maintaining an orderly environment by establishing clear rules and expectations. Managing conflict and aggression by remaining calm and patient.
